ENQUIRER HANDICAP NEXT Twentieth Running of Latonia Fixture to Take Place Saturday - Remaining Stakes. LATONIA, Ky., June 21. With the twentieth running of the Enquirer Handicap, scheduled for this week-end at Latonia, per- formers in the older handicap division will have their inning at that historic old course. The Saturday feature is to be decided at one mile and one-sixteenth, and is for three-year-olds and upward, with ,500 in added money being put up by Churchill Downs Latonia, Inc. In addition to the monetary award, a silver trophy donated by E. B. McLean, will also go to the winning owner. The Enquirer Handicap closed with thirty nominations on May 10 and all indications point to a large and classy field of runners in the event. In addition to this weeks headliner, other stakes to be decided at the meeting are the Cincinnati Trophy, the Independence and the Latonia Oaks. The first named is for juvenile colts and geldings, with ,500 in added money the prize. The Trophy is to be decided at six furlongs, which will mark the first time that the youngsters have been asked to gp such a distance in this section. It is to be run on Saturday, July 3. Naturally, the Independence Handicap is down for decision on July 5, which is the legal day of celebration for the Fourth of July, which falls on Sunday this year. It will be contested over one mile and one-eighth and is open to three-year-olds and upward. The closing day of the session, July 10, will be the date for the decision of the Oaks. This running will mark the forty-first presentation of this old fixture, in which the three-year-old fillies will meet at one mile and one-eighth. The Oaks has an added money value of ,000, while the Independence Handicap is graced with a purse of ,500 added.
