WAZA FLAG forced the early pace, took command entering the stretch and, holding on well in the drive, outlasted WAZAYATA. The latter, under restraint all the way, moved up gamely in the stretch and, while finishing gamely, did not threaten her stablemate. OPEN HEARTH, far back early, closed steadily in the final quarter mile and was going well at the end. CHEHALIS saved ground in the final quarter mile and was going gamely at the end. POTION took the lead at the first turn, was rated along in front for three-quarters, but tired in the final eighth. BROWN MAN showed a good effort. SOMEONE ELSE quit. Overweight Anna V. L., 3 pounds. HOME WORK, under early restraint, moved up fast after going three-quarters, responded gamely to punishment, wore down POMPARAGON and held MADAME J. safe. The latter, taken back of the pace, came to the outside in the final quarter mile and finished gamely. POMPARAGON raced in close pursuit of the early pace, took command after going a half mile, drew away into a good lead on the lower turn but tired in the final eighth. BABOO showed speed for a half mile. RUFF DAY tired badly. Overweight Baboo, 1 pound; Monocle, 1; Home Shore, 2.
