PROGRAM OF CLAIMING RACES Rank Outsider, Prince McGee, Scores in Queen City Purse at Duff erin Park Course TORONTO, Ont, June 21. -A program made up entirely of claiming races was the fare served to those who .took in the sport I at Duff erin Park on Monday. However, 1 the racing was keenly contested throughout i the afternoon and despite an early threat of rain, the compact oval handled a surprisingly large crowd for the second day of the meeting. Probably the best race on the card was the fifth event, named the Queen City Purse. This was given over to eight three- and four-year-olds foaled in Canada, at one mile and a sixteenth. The Queen City Purse resulted in one of the hardest fought battles of the meeting when Prince McGee, a rank outsider, and Prinoud reached the wire so closely lapped that the judges called for a photo to determine the finish. At the outset it was Prim-bud that took up the task of pacemaking after Blue Wren tired and the Labell gelding enjoyed the lead right up until the very last strides when Prince McGee challenged. The latter was far back in the; early part and did not make his run until rounding the turn for home; He came like a wild horse through the short run home and just managed to get along in time to have his nose ;in front at the wire. In earning the third split, Icanwin passed, some tired horses in the final furlong. j Auld Reekie, which went to the post en- j ; joying the bulk of public support, did not J appear to fancy the short turns. The rest of the field cut no figure when the real racing began.
