t DETROIT TURF NOTES I , . . 4 Mrs. Fred Alger, Jr., has donated a- beautiful punchbowl to the owner of the winner of the Moslem Temple Stakes. The bowl was made in England in 1875. George Krehbiel, turf editor of the Detroit News, announced Monday that due to his duties with his paper he has resigned as associate steward of the Detroit Racing Association. Misgivings, Thomas B. Cromwells hope for Moslem Temple Stakes honors, had her final preparation over a heavy track Monday afternoon, in which she ran a half mile in :49, handily. On Delivery, J. E. Wideners hope for Moslem Temple Stakes honors, arrived from Washington Park in charge of Fred Farrell. H. K. Barron purchased Phalazan and Sunny Chance from Waggoner Bros. Three Ds Stock Farm and the pair left Arlington Downs for Detroit Sunday. Jockey Melyin Calvert made a change in his plans and instead of accompanying the Tall Trees Stable to Rockingham Park, he will remain here until the close of the meeting. J. W. Barnes, whose horses are trained by L. V. Bellew, Jr., underwent an operation; for appendicitis at the Grace Hospital. His condition was reported as improved Monday morning. Jockey Willie Saunders, who has been vacationing at Port Huron, Mich.,, returned here Monday. He expects to resume riding in the near future. Track superintendent Norman Miller left for Chicago to be at the bedside of his brother, Frank: Miller, who will undergo an operation for a heart tumor. The Blue Ridge Farm horses which are quartered at Washington Park wili be shipped to Thistle Down to await the arrival of the other members of the stable to be shipped from here. E. W- Duffys Grey Gold, which filled, his engagement in the American Derby at Washington Park Saturday, was returned here Sunday. Jockey Joe Rosen, who rode him, resumed riding here Monday.
