CHIMNEY TOP, racing stoutly and going in the thick of contention, saved ground entering the stretch to wear down OWALLER inside the final eighth and came out gradually under pressure. SUBURBANITE was a strong factor after the start and came courageously in the final drive. CRESTONIAN was shuffled back early, bettered her position on the outside and closed full of run. OWALLER showed good speed while setting the pace, but failed to stay under punishment when the real test came. BILL BLEIWEISS tired slowly in the late stages. NANSEMOND dropped back after the start and was held perfectly safe. SURPRISE BOX could not threaten. GURKHA was outrun. WORRY showed early speed. MELODY MAID outran her field to the first turn, was steadied nicely while meeting strong- contention from CHANCING, moved clear on the final tuin, then drew out nicely in the closing drive. JOBAKHETA, rated off the early pace while going well placed, moved up readily when shaken up and closed gamely, but was no threat to the winner. IN MEMORY was prominent early and continued gamely after making a sharp bid midway of the final turn. JOLYON, lacking early speed, finished with good courage while weaving between horses. CHANCING was used up forcing the pace and tired. FREDALVA raced well for seven-eighths, then tired. STALAGMITE broke slowly and raced in dull fashion. MISS PECAN had no mishaps. DIGNITARY tired early. BURNER, away forwardly, was caught in tight quarters going to the first turn to fall back, bettered her position on the outside, wore down the leaders to take command in the last eighth and was under a vigorous drive at the end. BARKER broke slowly, saved ground to reach a prominent position, then challenged stoutly nearing the stretch and fought it out strongly to the finish. REPELLER was rushed through on the inside of the leaders nearing the final turn to take the lead, but flattened out in the stretch drive. TOMOCA raced clear all the way, but was not good enough. TOPEE finished with good speed. MOLIDA broke slowly and raced wide to improve her position. CAMBREEZE quit when placed to a drive. GAONA showed early speed. INACTIVE moved to the front on the first turn, rallied to a tenacious drive when displaced, came again in the closing eighth while racing on the inside and outlasted PATCHPOCKET. PATCHPOCKET followed close up early, raced to the front midway of the final turn, could not get clear and hung right at the end. GREEN MELON was backing into his stall when the start came to get away slowly, settled in stride after five-eighths and closed a big gap. DURWRACK worked his way up on the outside and came strongly in the final drive. SYLVIA G. raced well placed and was put .to punishment in the last five-sixteenths, but failed to rally. SCREEN could not engage the leaders at any time. FIRST PIGEON broke slowly and was never a factor. HARDWARE tired. The others were outrun. BAR FLY was close up from the beginning, made several strong bids and held on gamely. ROSERETTER closed with a belated rush after being taken wide in the last half mile. JOHN ONE set a fast pace and saved ground, but could not stay when challenged. BLIND EAGLE had no excuses. PRETTY PET was never a threat. BOLD STROKE began tiring after going seven-eighths. The latter, saved off the early pace, responded stoutly when placed to a drive and finished full of run between horses nearing the close. CHALPHONE suffered sharp interference going to the first turn, gained racing room to make a strong bid midway of the stretch, then fought it out gamely. ROOM SERVICE circled her field and closed stoutly after losing ground. MAECLOUD was used up setting the pace and tired badly in the last three-eighths. THE BOXER was overmatched. KINDACORN, holding a position closer to the leaders than .usual, raced up fast at the final turn, engaged the leader entering the stretch, then finished determinedly to get up in the last few strides. JAVAMOCHA, permitted to drop back going to the first turn, was sent up with a tremendous rush to get to the front on the final turn, then tired during the closing eighth. PALAN dropped back steadily when kept on the inside in the run down the back stretch, finally raced to the outside and closed with a bold rush. BALAPIN was prominent all the way and held on stoutly to the finish. SHOT UP raced well. MOTHEL closed strongly. BRIGHT SPIRITS tired. JINNEAL opened up a long lead in the first three-quarters, then flattened out. BAKU was outrun.
