KEENELAND TURF NOTES g The horses of Jack O. Keene have been on the grounds for nearly two weeks, coming here from Latonia. In the stable are Fan-tine, Eponine, Don Cossack, Mr. Smith, Meadow Sweet and Lady Val. The latter is a two-year-old filly that has not had any racing experience. Eddie Barnes arrived with the Bomar Stable nearly a week ago from Detroit Barnes will race Noble Boy, Detroit Bull, Hazel Nut, Colonial Maid, Jeannetti and Fancy That at the local session. Fancy That, a three-year-old filly, was taken up by -Barnes Friday. The filly was turned out at the J. O. Keene farm last spring. The only horse of racing age in the C. C. Van Meter stable is the three-year-old, Big Tim. Van Meter is breaking ten yearlings at the local course. Only three horses are in training at Keene-land that race for H. P. Headley. Supreme Speed, Bourbon King and Flying Lee make up the stable in quarters at the local track. The main division of the stable, consisting of twelve head, will be here Monday from New York. Charles Gentry canceled the twelve stalls he reserved. J. P. Sallee checked in with the Thos. C. Piatt stable, coming here from Hawthorne. In the Piatt consignment were Utica, Unrequited, Plain View, Flip Flap, Miss Alert, Calling, Lina Mac, Dixie Girl. Shawana and Gay Jane. Apprentice Nunzio Pariso, one of the leading riders on the Chicago circuit this past summer, was an arrival from the Windy City. B. S. Mitchell registered Evening Shadow, a three-year-old filly by Bull Dog and Passerine, two-year-old daughter of Busy American Monday. They will sport the silks of Elmer Dale Shaffer, local breeder. A. G. Tarn was an arrival. He shipped twelve head here Saturday and is expecting five others to come from Latonia. The Calumet Farm horses in charge of trainer Cliff Thomas were registered Monday. The quartette to represent the Chicago-owned stable are the two-year-olds Calumet Red, Lotta Bull, Temulac and Greeny. Tom Moran, a member of the official family came from Beulah Park and was busy Saturday placing horsemen in their proper barns. Moran has charge of stabling accommodations here. According to word received, Max Hirsch was due to arrive here Sunday to take in the sales. Hirsch will be a guest of John W. Marr, local breeder. The popular Kentucky trainer, Bryant Ott registered his stable which came here from Chicago. In the consignment was Safe and Sound, All Forlorn, Square, Sweep Through, Distillation and Perfect Devil. Jockey Robert Highlcy, attached to the stable also came from the Windy City. thirteen stalls reserved by Paul Kelley have been canceled. Kelley advised track superintendent Bishop he would be unable to race at the local track. Monte Preston came from his home at Midland, Texas to attend the sales. Preston has in training at the farm in Texas seven yearlings by Westy Fox, the first of the young sires get. In addition to the yearlings, Preston is also conditioning three older horses .for Fred Turner, Texas patron. J. Harry Patterson, field man for the Thoroughbred Horsemens Association, was an arrival from Chicago.
