1 NARRAGANSETT PARK NOTES ! H. K. Barron brought in his string from Detroit. This useful band includes Exchange Club, Royal Link, Deerpath, Colonel Martin, Bojangles and High Fire. Bill Shelley, father of racing secretary Bob Shelley, arrived here Monday to pinch hit for his son during opening week. Bob was called to Chicago to attend a meeting of the Sportsmans Park corporation and the state racing commission. Secretary Tom Harrop and racing commissioner Francis J. Kiernan, reopened the commissions office in the administration building at Narragansett. Secretary Harrop issued several licenses to trainers and jockeys who are here Tor the fall meeting. Last traces of the hurricane which swept Narragansett Park vanished today when carpenters completed restoration of the huge garage used to shelter track equipment. The repairs, which cost the association 00,000 were completed in three weeks. Trainer Frank Kearns has reserved eight stalls at Narragansett for a division of the Calumet Farms stable. Bull Lea, second to Stagehand in the Narragansett Special, is nominated to several of the stakes to be run at the fall meeting. Frank Carreaud is due from Latonia, bringing his sensational two-year-old Time Alone. The Texan is high on the colts chances in the New England Futurity to be run October 29. Mordecai, the two-year-old in the stable of Kirby Ramsey, is named after, the great baseball pitcher, Mordecai "Three Fingered" Brown. The gelding has started eight times and finished in front four times for a batting average of .500. Mordecai Brown now runs a filling station at Terre Haute, Ind. Eddie Robart, Pawtucket youngster who is rapidly developing into one of the leading apprentices riding in New England, will be in demand when he returns to Narragansett for the fall meeting. Robart who was developed by trainer "Hatless" John Brouse, has ridden over a dozen winners at the Rockingham meeting.
