Keenelands Third Annual Fall Meeting Begins Today Fields of Nine or More in Every Race Tranter Handicap, Headliner of the Inaugural Card, Draws a Dozen Horses Track in Condition. LEXINGTON, Ky., Oct. 10. Keenelands third annual Autumn meeting will be inaugurated here tomorrow with every prospect that it will be the best yet at the beautiful course nestling amid many of the nations leading breeding establishments. That a full complement of horses, the vast majority of them ready to run, is on hand for the ten-day term, is indicated by the entries for the inaugural program of seven races as every event has drawn an overnight field of nine or more. A dozen have been named for the Tranter Handicap, which will honor the memory of the late E. J. Tranter, president of the Fasig-Tiptori Company, which is conducting the sales here now. The event will be over the mile and one-sixteenth distance, or once around the track with a ,500 purse. Prominent in the line-up for the feature are Louise J. Hickmans Arabs Arrow and Dusty Dawn, Hal Price Headleys Dah He and Old Nassau, Le Mar Stock Farms Merrymood and Mad Money, Greentree Stables Birthday and J. Desopos Tunica. Arabs Arrow is the top weight of 117 pounds. SUPPORTING ATTRACTION. Supporting the Tranter are the Greenridge and Highland Purses, both dashes of six furlongs. The latter has attracted some capable three-year-olds including Lady Ariel, Madison, Tiger Teddy, Heritage and Dixie Girl. Juvenile fillies are scheduled to compete in the Greenridge and the speedy ones in the overnight field of eleven include Bold Fay, Miss Baker, Twist, Chicharra and Flying Lill. Bright warm weather was the order today and a continuance of it tomorrow should make the opening one of the best in the history of the track as much interest is being shown here in the return of the sport. Many visitors are here also from all parts of the country to attend Keeneland, the sales and the annual dinner Thursday night of the Thoroughbred Club of America which will honor Mrs. Payne Whitney, owner of the Greentree Stable . Saturday, the ,000 added Breeders Futurity will be revived after an absence of several years and as it did at the old Kentucky Association course it is expected to attract some of the best two-year-olds in the country. Among the outstanding eligibles are Eight Thirty, Johnstown, Dinner Date, Xalapa Clown, Benefactor, Third Degree, Hants and Olney. Among the prominent owners whose colors will be shown here are Greentree Stable, Bomar Stable, Brown Hotel Stable, Calumet Farm, Dixiana, E. W. Duffy, H. P. Headley, Everglades Stable, W. Arnold Hanger, Mrs. J. Hertz, Le Mar Stock Farm, Millsdale Stable, Thomas Piatt, J. B. Res-pess, W. E. Smith, J. C. Stone, Tall Trees Stable, Valdina Farms, Walmac Farm and J. E. Widener. Eddie Arcaro, considered one of the best jockeys in the country is here to pilot the Greentree horses. Other well known riders already registered are Nunzio Pariso, Joe Rosen, Ken McCombs, Frank Grill, C. Charlton, C. Swain, T. Dickinson, George South, R. Adair, Earl Steffen, Willie Garner, Jimmy McCoy, W. Cornay and A. Craig. Pierre- Xiorillard, Jr., will be the presiding steward throughout the meeting. From among Louie A. Beard, Roy Carruthers, Brownell Combs, W. Arnold Hanger, J. O. Keene, C. G. Middleton, Charles Nuckols and C. Barry Shannon, two will be in the stand daily with Lorillard. Placing judges are Sidney Brown, Larry Bogenschutz and Joe H. Palmer, clerk of scales Fred Burton, paddock judge Dr. C. H. Holmes, timer Wm.
