FAIR GROUNDS TURF N0TES O. L. Foster, whose horses have been here for several days, checked in from New England and was accompanied by apprentice Harry Krovitz, the stables rider. In addition to the horses Joe Umensetter is training for Mrs. M. B. Etzler, he has taken over Imperial Jones and Helestat for A. Bronzo, and for W. A. Rafferty he is handling King of Spades and Gaijest. He is also looking after Mr. Boss for Frank Haus-man. R. B. Archer, who is paying his first visit to New Orleans racing, registered the following horses with racing secretary R. A. Leigh: My Shadow, Toney Steel, Titian Kiddie, Bromide, Nathan Hale, Arachne and Seldina. The outfit came from Narragansett. In a transaction in which G. R. Brysori represented E. K. Bryson, the plater Kurdair and a yearling filly were sold to R. A. For-sha for a private consideration Friday morning at the Fair Grounds. Apprentice Henry Romaine and jockey Gerald Gleason are the newest additions to the riding colony at the Louisiana Jockey Clubs course, which is the largest in the history of racing in the state. Thoroughly recovered from an appendicitis operation which he underwent after the Fair-mount Park meeting, apprentice Don Manifold made his return to the saddle Friday afternoon at the Fair Grounds when he had the mounts on Colorist and Gawaine. T. R. Marullo, local turfman, announced that he has taken first call on the services of jockey Bill Lowe for the duration of the Louisiana Jockey Clubs meeting and will also book the boys outside engagements. The schooling of yearlings at the starting gate has been started by starter Johnny Morrissey, but he will not break the youngsters away from the gate until December 10, and thereafter daily classes will be conducted from the chute at the head of the home stretch.
