FIRST KISS DISPLAYS SPEED Near Track Record in Victory at Tanforan Thursday Filly Priced at 0,000 to L. B. Mayer. SAN BRUNO, Calif., Nov. 25 Ex-jockey Hurst Philpots splendid filly First Kiss, making her first start since Santa Anita, came within one-fifth of a second of equalling the Tanforan track record when she sprinted six furlongs in 1:10 Thursday afternoon. Racing with five others, First Kiss dashed to the front at once and won by four lengths. Had she been whipped out, she might have tied the mark, held jointly by Brown Jade and Indian Broom. Olimpo, an Argentine horse from the Bing-lin Stable making its first start in this country, was backed into favoritism but could do no better than be fourth. Better Bet, a California-bred, was second and Our Caro-lyne finished third. Louis B. Mayer, who has been getting together a powerful string recently, sought a price on First Kiss, and owner Philpot placed a 0,000 tag on her.
