EL CHICOS FAMILY LINE The success of El Chico, champion two-year-old race horse of 1938, has cast attention on his breeding. El Chico is a son of John P. Grier, which gave Man o War his toughest race, and a grandson of Whisk Broom II., which ran a mile and a quarter in two minutes flat to set a worlds record. Both John P. Grier and Whisk Broom H. were products of the Whitney "pattern" of breeding.
