DEATH TAKES CUBAN OWNER HAVANA, Cuba, April 5. Cuban commercial and turf circles were shocked today to learn of the death of Segismund S. Friedlein, well known Cuban merchant of this city and ardent racing enthusiast. Mr. Friedlein was a resident of Cuba for the past forty years. He was a race horse owner and during many years his stock competed on American and Cuban tracks. The two best thoroughbreds sporting his silks in late years were Fortunate Youth and Quorum. The former represented his owner in the Cuban Grand National and took the place award in March, 1933. Mr. Friedlein was a member of the first Cuban association which started summer racing in Cuba, and up to last season always owned several horses. He was well liked in all circles of his activities. He is survived by his widow and two daughters, one of whom was the first woman to obtain a license to train thoroughbreds on the island.
