I CHURCHILL DOWNS NOTES f s William Westerfield, former trainer of the Imperial Farms stable and a familiar figure here for a number of years, has taken over the conditioning of six horses owned by Dr. E. R. Plunkett, Kentucky breeder and sportsman. The horses in the stable are Chandera, an eligible for the Kentucky Oaks; Valet, and the two-year-olds Dart, Rythm, Fetchet and My Honey. G. E. Moore arrived here with the three-year-old Chatin and is taking up Magic Thread, a horse of the same age, which wintered in Kentucky. The horses of the F. P. Letellier stable remaining here will be looked after by L. H. Sewell, Letellier having gone to Keeneland with the others. The firing irons are to be applied to the knees of Buttons B., according to A. J. Plack, who has the horse at Douglas Park. Plack is training Plucky Byrd and. Chub-bins for racing here. Rufus Schilling arrived from Lexington with Starry Flag, which he will race here under the colors of Dr. W. E. Coover. I. J. Collins Bernard F., an intended starter in the Phoenix Handicap at Keeneland, got away from here in charge of trainer Al Miller. Also sent to Lexington were Flying Up, Pehamis, Hargram, Kremlia and Dale K. The latter last year was known to the turf as Oddesa Beulah, and under that name was hailed as one of the outstanding juvenile fillies of 1938. Before leaving for Lexington Miller transferred Barna and Nu-wine to Churchill Downs from Douglas Park. B. C. Carpenter checked in from Hot Springs recently with the platers Cross Ruff and Overplay, which arc to be campaigned through the Downs session.
