I TROPICAL PARK TURF NOTES 4 Plans are being considered to build a new press box on top of the main stand roof at Tropical Park during the off season, announced Jimmy Loftus, publicity director for the Gables meeting, which concluded a rec- ord meeting here Monday. Loftus will leave within a few days for a tour of Kentucky breeding farms and will later go to Louisville for the running of the Kentucky Derby. . Robert P. McAuliffe will leave for New York and later journey to Narragansett Park, where he will act in an official capacity. Bryan Steele, experienced as an assistant starter for many years, announced his appointment as starter at the fifty-day meeting at Detroit, commencing May 20. Jockey "Buddy" Ensor is rejoicing over the receipt of a beautiful wrist watch from apprentice Euclid Le Blanc. Ensor is being thanked for the aid and advice he gave the youngster. Jimmy Jones departed for Jamaica, where he will supervise the operation of his camera. Jockey Charlie Compton left for Bowie, where he will ride for Frank Coltiletti during the waning days of the meeting. Compton is dickering for an engagement to handle the horses trained by Phil Sage, which will be campaigned at Narragansett Park.
