j LANTZ BILL GOES TO SUBCOMMITTEE j OF SEVEN MEMBERS i........ - SPRINGFIELD, 111., April 11. The Illinois House of Representatives committee on efficiency and economy, today referred the Lantz Bill to a subcommittee of seven members. The bill, which passed the senate last week by a vote of 44 to 1, would abolish the present Illinois Racing Commission and substitute a new commission. The committee, made up of four republicans and three democrats, was appointed on the motion of representative Peter C. Granata, of Chicago. The latter is chairman of the committee, made up of the following members: Stanley E. Martynowski, James J. Adduci, Edward J. Petlak, Arthur J. Quinn, Arthur T. Broche, all of Chicago, and J. Ward Smith, of Ottawa. Smith is said to be the only member of the committee satisfactory to Lantz, author of the bill. The committee is said to be planning public hearings on the bill to be held in the Chicago city council chambers some time later in the month.
