j NARRAGANSETT PARK NOTES j Although the unusually early opening of Narragansetts spring meeting precluded the offering of stakes events for two- and three-year-olds, racing secretary Bob Shelley has made ample provision for these two divisions in his first issue of the condition book, which covers the ten-day period from April 22, the opening day, to May 3. A five-car horse special will leave Tropical Park Tuesday night heading northward toward Narragansett and the opening of the spring meeting on April 22. Included in the shipment will be twenty-one head for George Alexandra, twenty-eight head for Phil Bieber, and twelve head for Mose Shapoff. Trainer George C. White increased the horse population of Narragansett Park Monday by fourteen when he brought in the Rosedale Stable of thirteen and a pony. Jockeys T. Dickinson and R. Adair, who will ride for the stable, came in with the shipment. Dune McDermid brought in eighteen of the Fanfare Farms contingent, coming from Tropical Park. Blind Pig- and Dunade head the Fanfare outfit, which included Victorious Ann, Tugboat Frank and Terpsichore. Merle Simmons arrived with six head Including Dark Beau and Notice Me, both winners at Tropical Park. A check-up in the stable area showed 486 horses already stabled at Narragansett. Two carloads from Florida arriving Tuesday afternoon brought in twelve head for Lyman Brusie and seventeen head for Bill Hodson. Horses arriving now from the South are fit and ready.
