PERSONAGE raced to the front soon after the start, opened up a good lead, increased her advantage after leaving the back stretch and drew out steadily through the stretch run. ANXIETY, well placed all the way, made a determined effort to reach the leader, was not good enough and barely lasted to hold the fast closing PUZZLE DANCE. The latter was slow to begin and, outpaced early, came stoutly through the stretch run. GEN L., away fast, dropped back during the first quarter mile and then closed some ground. PHARO WARRIOR was unable to reach the leaders. SAVANT tired after showing early speed. ATATIME, away slowly, was unable to enter into serious contention. MAESTRUNG, quickest to begin, was taken under slight restraint when outrun by MIKES GRACE, wore down the latter before reaching the stretch, but was doing his utmost at the close to hold NIKKI B. safe. The latter worked way up gradually and finished wearing the winner down steadily at the end. PROUD KING, unable to keep pace early, moved up gradually during the last three-eighths and closed with good courage. BOB JUNIOR, unruly at the post and away slowly, closed a big gap. MIKES GRACE had good early speed, but gave way steadily during the last five-sixteenths. CORDATE was unable to enter into serious contention. HELLO STRANGER had brief early speed. TEXSTAR followed along in close chase of the leaders until reaching the stretch, moved up on the outside when MALAYAN broke out and, responding gamely to hard urging, was along inside the last seventy yards to wear down PROUD LASS. The latter, in near pursuit of her stable companion, raced to the front when MALAYAN bore out and, despite holding on willingly, was unable to withstand the closing challenge of the winner. MALAYAN had good speed, but bore out badly at the stretch turn and, although recovering gamely, was unable to reach the first two. GAMBIT closed with good speed in the last eighth. AIR ACTRESS was unable to keep up. BABY LAMB broke into the inside rail when the start came and was practically eliminated. FOURTH RACE 3-4 MILE Out of Chute. ON THE DOT followed along within striking distance of the pace, was brought to the outside when reaching the stretch, responded readily to hard urging and, wearing down the leaders, drew«_out steadily in the last sixteenth. CANOE had speed from the outset, met determined opposition from SUN ANTIOCH, disposed of him and, meeting a bold bid from MAEBEAU, outlasted the latter, but was no match for the winner in the closing test. MAEBEAU, well placed and slightly reserved early, obtained clear sailing on the inside leaving the back stretch, moved to the leaders readily, showed in front briefly in the stretch, but was unable to maintain his advantage under punishment. TUTTICURIO moved up steadily in the run down the back stretch, but was unable to close any ground when placed under urging. SUN ANTIOCH, on the outside while disputing the command, dropped back and was sent to the .inside after reaching the stretch. CANDY HERO, away fast, was unable to keep up. WOOD CHOPPER, away alertly, was slightly reserved while disputing the lead with LITTLE BOLO, disposed of the latter after reaching the stretch and, kept under urging, drew out during the last eighth. UNICO worked way up steadily and, coming to the outside when reaching the stretch, closed in determined fashion. LITTLE BOLO had good speed from the start, made a game try to co along with the winner, but was not good enough and yielded ground steadily in the last sixteenth. AMBUSCADE raced well placed from the start, but tired under pressure through the last eighth. BRIGHT VIEW, away fast, was unable to keep the pace. HARD LU was never a factor. SIMKOE was outrun. LOURDES, restrained until reaching the back stretch, moved up steadily and, saving ground all the way, was brought to the outside when reaching the stretch and finished with good courage. PASSING EVE improved position gradually and came with good courage through the stretch run. MISS PONNE outran her field to the first turn, was rated along under slight restraint, but was unable to keep pace through the last quarter mile. STALAGMITE was unable to reach the leaders. HARPEN BELLE, in closest chase of the leader from almost the beginning, was under intermittent punishment during the last three-eighths and held on willingly to the close. GALLOPING, on the inside while following in close pursuit of the leaders, was unable to close any ground during the final drive. SUMMER HAIL was unable to threaten the leaders. UPSIDE DOWN, restrained for the first three-quarters, came gamely when placed under punishment and was along in the closing strides to outlast PADDYS SISTER. The latter moved up gamely on the outside in the run down the back stretch and held on willingly in the stretch drive. ONRUSH raced to the front straightening out in the back stretch, was rated along under slight reserve, but tired steadily during the last five-sixteenths. STAVKA quit badly during the last three-eighths. PRINCE DEAN was never a factor. Overweight — Veilstar, 3 pounds.
