SIR MIDAS, reserved off the pace under snug restraint, came, to the outside in the stretch, swerved over slightly in the drive and got up in the last fifty yards. MAYRO alternated in the pacemaking under stout, reserve, was weakly handled in the stretch, yet held on well. CHALPHONE, probably best and allowed to remain out of the principal contention until the final quarter, was responding strongly when, crowded back entering the final eighth, came again, but again lacked room in the last fifty yards and, with better luck, might have been a decisive winner. DISTILLATION was under steady restraint for three-quarters and held on well to the last eighth, where she gave way slowly. JEFFERSONTOWN saved much ground, but was held safe. LINA MAC was outrun.
