VIERNES SANTO, much the best, was in hand in the run down the back stretch, was roused rounding the far turn, steered to the outside for the drive and, closing with good energy, outgamed VANSCOUT. The latter moved to the leaders with a rush, took command approaching the final eighth, continued gamely, but was not good enough. TUREEN, hustled from the start, was under mild restraint setting the pace under strong pressure turning into the stretch, but tired in the final stages. SHOT TOWER, prominently placed in the early stages, faltered in the drive. PRINCESS VERTE failed -to reach the leaders under urging. AMOS lacked speed. LINTER was used up the first half mile. THE PELICAN, hustled into command, bore out badly approaching the stretch and, finishing on the extreme outside, was racing gamely at the end. JOCKANA forced the pace from the start, saved ground throughout, but tired in the final strides. KING PRESTON, in close quarters and unable to secure clear racing room the first half mile, closed resolutely. INDIAN SPORT finished with a belated rush. BE DISCREET tired. SKALKAHOE could not reach the leaders in the final stages under urging. The others wore outrun. FLUTTER UP, allowed to settle in her best stride and strongly urged rounding the far turn, moved around the leaders with a rush and, opening a commandirfg lead entering the stretch, was well in hand through the final eighth. MANOR DELL, outrun in the early stages and lucky to secure clear racing room turning into the stretch, continued strongly under increased pressure to wear down HEIDI inside the last seventy yards, but was no match for the winner. HEIDI, prominent from the start, went slightly wide turning into the stretch, continued gamely when straightened out, but tired near the end. ABBY B., in close quarters rounding the far turn, was forced to weave her way between horses, made a bold bid approaching the final eighth, but was not good enough. DEVILISH NICK had no mishaps. WISE PRINCESS could not improve under pressure. UNCLE MITCH raced on the outside throughout. ELECT JESSIE and IN CHANCERY raced each other into defeat. JOHN FRANCIS, in hand for a half mile and under strong pressure for the last quarter, was up in the closing strides. PRINCE ARGO, hustled from the start, showed high speed, disposed of SKY WIND rounding the far turn, was under strong urging in the final eighth, but tired. FAST MOVE, under "restraint and never a great distance back, made a bold bid approaching the final eighth, but faltered in the last strides.
