ROOSEVELT PLANS INSPECTION TRIP UP ALASKAN WATERS WASHINGTON, D. C, May 17.— Reports from the west coast indicated today that President Roosevelt is planning an inspection cruise to Alaska following his impending cross-country journey to the San Francisco Golden Gate Exposition. Final decision on the north Pacific voyage will depend on the status of domestic and international affairs, it was understood. Mr. Roosevelt hopes to swing west in mid-June and wind up aboard a navy cruiser headed for Americas northernmost insular possession. A cruise to Alaska would give the president an opportunity to inspect increased air and naval defenses this government has under way in the territory which branches out closest to the Far East.
