BUCKET HEAD broke into the air, but quickly settled into stride, was taken to the inside in the first eighth, continued to save ground when coming with a rush in the final quarter and drew out fast in the last sixteenth. GRAPE VINE, forced wide throughout, was in hand for a half mile, was slow to respond when called upon, but rallied in the late stages and wore down OURS in the closing strides. OURS followed the early pacemaker under restraint, was placed to pressure after reaching the stretch and held on in determined fashion to the last sixteenth, where he tired. HIGH RENOWN, on the inside and well in hand to the stretch, made a bid when urged and after coming lo the outside in the last quarter, but hung near the end. LAST MESSAGE, lucky to save ground throughout and taken in hand after being hustled into command, quickly increased her advantage after reaching the stretch, but was under brisk pressure much of the final eighth and probably had little left. SOUTHLAND BEAU, under confident handling and never a great distance back, saved ground on the final turn, came out in the stretch and, closing well, was slowly getting to the winner, but might have been closer up, if not successful, had the jockey timed his ride better. SORTIE STAR, away slowly and badly outrun for live eighths, made up ground thereafter and showed a good effort. BROADUS was under energetic riding after a half mile, lost ground on the stretch turn and gave way gradually in the last three-sixteenths. BUSTLE tired badly. SIXTH RACE 3-4 MILE Out of Chute. SHERRON ANN, wellm hand early, moved up on the turn, met light interference in the stretch where ABMERES forced her wide, but hung on resolutely when clear. ABMERES also took a contending position on the turn, swerved out after saving cround when entering the stretch, was under strong riding in the final eighth, but tired in the closing stages.
