t NORTH RANDALL TURF NOTES f s - = © With construction work on the remodeled track nearing completion, the advance guard of horses is beginning to arrive on the grounds. Harvey Short, stall man, today allotted space to half a dozen horsemen and anticipates that there will be at least 200 head on the grounds by the end of the week. Wednesdays arrivals included a shipment from Pimlico. The Maryland stock includes six belonging to J. P. Jones, five to W. E. Martin and four to Mrs. Ellsworth Augustus of Cleveland. The Jones string is headed by Nicky, a two-year-old winner at Bowie, and includes She-nuit, Hation and Turkey Hash, two-year-olds, and Sanoma and Pine Tag, three-year-olds — all maidens. Gorse, a four-year-old which won and finished second in Maryland, tops the Augustus-owned quartet. Also on the grounds are eight belonging to Benny Creech, headed by the stake performers Reaping and Shining Heels; four belonging to Walter S. Baker, three to B. F. Clarke, four to Gene Smith, seven to Dr. J. S. Mc-Ginnis, and reliable old Sunshine Boy, the property of John Chivis. The latest improved Bahr stall gate arrived Wednesday, and Ben Miller, Hawthorne superintendent, stopped off on his way to Saratoga to inspect the gate in particular and the renovated plant in general.
