RED VULCAN disposed of ANKYLOS to take a commanding lead and was not threatened during the last three-eighths of a mile. EXPLORATION rallied from well back, but was no match for the winner. BLOODHOUND improved his position steadily in the final turn and tired. LOUDOUN BOY was badly outdistanced early, closed willingly, but made up little ground. TATU was through early. STORMY BILL was never a serious threat. ANKYLOS stopped to a walk after pressing the pace for five furlongs. CANDLE ENDS was through early. MINT OMORN outran the field along the backstretch, was well rated to the furlong pole and responded to good pressure while lasting over PRETTY NYMPH. The latter, off alertly and steadied when unable to keep up, rallied on the outside in the closing test and was wearing down the winner. PLAY HIGH raced on the inside and forwardly placed from the start and tired. DENAGEE was always prominent and tired in the final furlong. WAR CHAIN moved menacingly in the early stretch and weakened. MIRAD shook off SHAFFIE to take a clear lead, but faltered in the final test. MARIA was hard held to the stretch and showed nothing when roused. REGAINED caught tired horses in the stretch, run. EQUIBIT was always a forward factor and outfinished THEODORE under strong pressure. THEODORE moved on the outside to attain a slight lead at the furlong pole and was unable to resist the winner. EIREANN caught a tired horse, but lost ground through the stretch. WINTERBERRY, off alertly, but unable to maintain the lead, was steadied while in a trifle close leaving the backstretch and showed nothing thereafter. GRAND ENTRY snowed early speed and tired. CATHIE JEAN was no match for the top trio. STAR MAKER caught a tired horse, but was soundly beaten. PARTIDO, always prominently placed, assumed the lead inside the furlong pole and prevailed under good handling. PATTY KNOT, steadied in the first flight early, attained a clear lead on the final bend and held on gamely in the final test. CRATER LAKE rallied from just off the pace in a good effort. UNHEARD raced well placed throughout. MOTIE BRAND, taken up all during the early running, was poorly handled while being taken to the extreme outside while rallying and, under the conditions, turned in a good effort. CALENDAR rallied from far back. DOVER ROAD stopped badly. JUNIOR FOUR had a rough trip early. TENNESSEE MAID was through early. AZTECA held a commanding lead to the stretch, but was no match for the winner. SOME WHERE had no mishap. DON OSULLIVAN failed to rally. GAMBLING ANDY retired early. RUN PRETTY had speed for five furlongs.
