Yankee Renewal May Prove Wide Open Race Donor and Loyal Legion Figure To Give Atomic Power Acid Test SUFFOLK DOWNS, East Boston, Mass., May 21. The Rarco Stables Atomic Power, impressive winner of the Constitution and who was later penalized to the extent of being assigned virtual top weight for the 5,000 Yankee Handicap here Saturday, in all likelihood will find more severe opposition in New Englands leading three-year-old fixture and there is a better than even chance that he wont parade postward as the choice in the mile and three -sixteenths test. Word from New York that Deering Howes Donor worked a mUe in 1:40 over a muddy track at Belmont Park before heading in this direction and the fact that Walter M. Jeffords Loyal Legion displayed superlative form in capturing the Potomac Stakes at Havre de Grace, has made the local race wide open. Trainer Oscar White sent word that Loyal Legion is headed this way, while Donors connections report that he will pass- up the Peter Pan Handicap at Belmont in favor of the Yankee. Loyal Legion, who carried 117 pounds to a six-length score in the mile and a sixteenth Potomac, is allotted only 114 in the Yankee, while Donor, winner of no less than five stakes last year, has been assigned 116. Atomic Power must shoulder 123. Because of this weight difference, it Is likely that the major portion of the wagering will be centered on Atomic Power. Loyal Legion and Donor. Racing secretary John P. Turner also received word this morning that the Marlet Stables pair of Kerry and Royal Lover are to be regarded as certain starters. They arrived early this morning from New York and both shipped well, according to the groom who accompanied them.
