Veteran Momo Flag Goes In Provincetown Purse Only Asked to Carry 111 Pounds In Todays Suffolk Downs Test SUFFOLK DOWNS, East Boston, Mass., May 21. Although he has not finished in the money in several months, A. "Frenchy" Lamoureux Momo Flag undoubtedly will be heavily supported in the Provincetown Purse, mile and a sixteenth feature that shares top billing with the Oriole Purse on tomorrows program. Once one of the smartest distance racers on the continent, the seven-year-old gelded son of American Flag Momo, by Rolled Stocking, appears to have very definitely gone back, but his previous tests against the top handicap horses on the grounds indicate that he is rapidly approaching his best form. For the Provincetown he is nicely weighted with 111 pounds and his class of opposition is not quite up to the usual standard. A mite of improvement would make him the one to beat, according to local horsemen and handicappers, it was only a few years ago when Momo Flag demanded considerable respect from the leading marathon stars,- having finished third to Reply Paid and Pot o Luck in the 0,000 New York Handicap. While tomorrows distance isnt as long as he probably would like it, he has been flashing more early speed this season than ever before. Only last Saturday, against Scottsville, Apropiado, Dinner Party and others he moved with a menacing rush on the far turn, but flattened out in the stretch as if in need of further tightening. B. A. Dario, who heads the Pascoag half-miler in Rhode Island, will be well represented in the Provincetown with the sleek mare, Slender Lady, who has made but one start at the meeting. That was against Apropiado and others and in back of her that afternoon was Momo Flag. She displayed extreme early speed and didnt tire until well -into the stretch. She, too, probably needed that race as a conditioner. She had previously raced only twice this season. H. H. Prices Colinova is another who has been raced sparingly, making her only appearance of the meeting on opening day and closing with a rush against some better than fair thoroughbreds, including F. B. Eye, Gay Moonbeam and Chance Player. It is reported that her trials have been creditable and that she is fresh and fit for such a race as the Provincetown. J. McCarthys OKeating last raced in a sprint, while Oak Hill Stables Gay Gino was also sharpened with a dash several days ago. The Oriole is fashioned exclusively for three-year-olds at a mile and a sixteenth and the general belief is that Cherry Oca Stables Warrior Prince will get the bulk of support. The War Dog colt is asked to spot all rivals weight, being allotted 120 pounds.
