Hoffman Witnesses Trials SUFFOLK DOWNS, East Boston, Mass., May 21. Howard Hoffman, well-known trainer, who has been ailing since the beginning of the current New England season, was on hand this morning to witness morning trials of the T. C. Melrose stable, now under the supervision of G. Clem. Hoffman said that the well-regarded three-year-olds, Mel Eppley and Mel Van Or-man, will be ready for the coming Narra-gansett Park meeting.
