Illinois Notes LINCOLN FIELDS at Hawthorne, Cicero, 111., May 21. Elmer R. Spinden of Fresno, Calif., purchased Sneeds Bar, Mankcubob and Crystal Dodger from Jack Taylor and turned the trio over to William D. Buck for conditioning at Hawthorne. Terms of the transaction were private. According to word from general superintendent Tom Young, Jack Carter arrived at Arlington Park with 10 horses for L. D. Rosenthal. "The unit shipped from Churchill Downs. William Crump is due at the North Side track with 24 horses and Raymond White is expected with 18 head, including the shifty three-year-old King Bay. A. Romano and H. Maggio acquired the plater, Skip Level, from Hoag and Ziegler at private sale. Ralph Salvino will train Skip Level. Jockey Willie Hanka is an arrival from Churchill Downs and he will give first call on his saddle services to Milton Rieser, who looks after a public stable. Apprentice H. Featherston will accept mounts at Hawthorne on Friday, having served a 10-day suspension. Featherston is under contract to Mrs. A. M. Creech and displayed good saddle form at Louisville before he was set down for a bit of rough riding. Paul Blair is to handle Feather-stons outside engagement book in Illinois. Newman Jones, Houston, Texas, patron, won his first success as an owner when One i Hook visited the winners circle at Hawthorne on May 19. R. Conino is training One Hook. v Racing secretary and handicapper Lawrence C. Bogenschutz announced that scratch time on Memorial Day, Friday, May 30, will be 6:30 a. m. - Joe Bollero, acting for Mrs. Bollero, sold Dauntless Bo to J. W. Doyle at private terms. Don J. Ramsey arrived at Hawthorne with the 15 -horse public stable he campaigned at Churchill Downs. Jockeys P. J. Bailey and W. Emery plan to leave for Omahas Ak-Sar-Ben meeting and they will accept mounts at the Nebraska oval on inaugural day, May 27. Steve Valenti will ship his eight-horse stable to the Detroit Fair Grounds the latter part of this week. Jockey Anthony Skoronski has been assigned the mount on John Marschs Mighy Story in the Steger Handicap, which is to be run here next Saturday. Steve Brooks will handle Lucas B. Combs Dark Jungle in the same stake. Joe Purpura left here Tuesday for Atlantic City with his four-horse stable and he plans to remain in New Jersey until fall. J. J. Sirl shipped nine horses, the property of A. Trout, to Omahas Ak-Sar-Ben track. Joe Moran, veteran outrider, checked in from Churchill Downs and resumed his duties at Lincoln Fields. Kirby Ramsey sent Jean Fox and Chal-lorette to Louisville. Jean Fox was slightly cut during the running of the Joliet Stakes and Challorette bucked shins. The Ramsey-trained pair is to return to Chicago later in the season. J. A. Best of Memphis and R. G. Gilmore of Louisville are on hand for the Lincoln Fields at Hawthorne current meeting. J. Lustgarten, a recent arrival from Florida, took over J. Entines Top Secret, Alldepends and Aethels Ace and he will train the entire trio for its Illinois campaign. R. W. Shaw arrived from Louisville with his homebred Shaws Pride, a winner at the Derby course. 1 FAIRMOUNT PARK, Collinsville, 111., May 21. Bill Phillips, veteran Illinois trainer, arrived with two horses for C. C. Pershall of Granite City, 111. The horses in the Phillips consignment were: Wampum and Sunny Mary. Both are two-year-olds and will see action at the Fairmount spring meet, which gets under way Friday, May 30. The three-horse stable of Al Breedlove checked in at Fairmount Park this morning from Churchill Downs. In the van were Watch Chilla, Dauberup and Half Lit. As in the past Dauberup will be seen only in distance handicaps and allowance affairs while Watch Chilla and Half Lit will perform in claiming races. Racing secretary Henderson Van Zandt received word that the Silver Star Stock Farm was shipping six head. Trainer E. H. Moody wired that the stables top horse Chipamink would probably be a starter in the opening-day feature, the second running of the Enyfed H. Williams Handicap. Others in the shipment will include the former stakes winner Jezrahel, Lovely Joker, Hasty Foot, Twin Sister and Haven OCall. H. Matthews arrived by van from Mexico City with four head. Among the Matthews horses were: Rustler Tom, Ship Signal, and Honest Pal. The latter has a reputation of living up to his name, having won five races this year at the Hipo-dromo de Las Americas. Teague Pichon was the latest arrival here. Pichon will be active in the early hours at Fairmount catching preparatory works of horses at the Collinsville oval. He came to Fairmount from Louisville, Ky., where he has been active during the current Churchill Downs meeting. Jockey R. J. Jones checked in from Hot Springs, Ark., and stated that he would ride here during the meeting. The Moberly, Mo.-owned stable of Jim Holman is on the grounds with the top horse of the outfit, Irish Wash, prepping for another victory in the Inaugural feature, the Ednyfed H. Williams Handicap, which will be run Friday, May 30. Irish Wash captured the first division of the opening-day feature last spring at Fairmount, while the second half went to Ted Wortmans Risky Hash. Also in the Holman band were: My Wash, Laundry Girl, Thrifty Wash and Bills Afar.
