Narraganseft Condition. Books Due on Week-End Shea and Several of His Staff Now on Scene of 30-Day Meet NARRAGANSETT PARK, Pawtucket, R. I., May 21. With the arrival of racing secretary M. C. "Ty" Shea and several of his staff, preparations are now practically complete for the programs that will entertain racegoers during the 30-day summer meeting here at .Narragansett Park which opens Monday, June 2, and continues through Saturday, July 5. Following hard on the heels of the Suffolk meeting which closes with the distance stake on Memorial Day and a sprint stake on May 31, Shea has fitted nicely the requirements of horsemen with his opening day feature,, the Inaugural, an overnight allowance event for three-year-olds and upward raced over five and one-half furlongs for a ,000 purse. The secondary feature is titled the New London, which will be contested by four-year-olds and upward over one mile and a sixteenth for a ,000 pot. Condition books for the first 10 days of the meeting will be in the hands of horsemen by the week-end and the stable area will be opened on Saturday for those owners and trainers in receipt of stall cards. Because of the extraordinary demands for stable accommodations, horsemen are being warned not to ship in unless in possession of these important credentials. Minimum purses at the meeting will be ,500 but overnight events at much higher values are balanced evenly throughout the book, Shea having provided many opportunities for the better grade thoroughbreds, with special emphasis on three-year-olds and fillies and mares.
