ROCHE moved through early to challenge for the lead, alternated with JIMMIE in setting the pace and proved best in the drive. JIMMIE showed speed throughout and fought it out gamely. HARD RENO rallied only mildly to catch tired horses. LITTLE SHREW weakened after being a factor in the early stages. HIGH BOSS was a forward factor early and tired. QUICK NEWS flattened out badly. LAYAWAY improved his position gradually, but could not reach the top one. LIDO WAY raced along the inside throughout and had no mishap. Won driving; third the same. ABBOTSTOWN vied for the lead from the start and responded gamely to finish in a dead-heat with BO MOWLEE. The latter was always forwardly placed and responded to pressure to finish on even terms with ABBOTTSTOWN. PIRATE GOLD raced prominently from the start and weakened slightly in the final furlong. APPLE RIVER made up ground from far back. BULLFIELD weakened. COMELY BELLE set the pace under rating and flattened out when roused. CHALVAAL showed nothing. FIFTH RACE 3-4 MILE out of chute. PRETTY NYMPH wrested command on the turn, was no match for the winner, but was best of the others. CRACKERJACK weakened- after racing into contention for the first half mile. NIGHT COUNT caught tired horses. LADY STIM tired. ORELING was outrun. AUGUST had the lead along the backstretch and quit 0 STALEMATE would not extend himself in the going. GIT, under restraint while well off the leaders responded to gain command in the early stretch and withstood the late bid of TIGER AGE. The latter was allowed to drop far out of contention, raced extremely wide while rallying and showed a tendency to lug in during the final stages. BEST BIB, under restraint while well placed, continued on gamely in the drive. BROTHER WILLIE moved boldly along the inside to gain command leaving the turn, then weakened slightly.
