■ ■ ■ - — — Name Dahlstrom Steward For Lincoln Fields Meet Other Officials Who Will Serve At 30-Day Session Also Approved The Illinois Racing Boards approval yesterday of officials who will serve at the 30-day Lincoln Fields meeting opening at Washington Park May 16 reveals the appointment of William R. "Duke" Dahlstrom as steward for the meeting. Dahlstrom, a native Chicagoan who is racing secretary at Gulfstream Park and at Atlantic City, will succeed the veteran Sam H. McMeekin who has retired after serving in that capacity since the opening of Lincoln Fields in 1926. The Board approved the Lincoln officials at a meeting held at their offices. William A. Hamilton, representing the Illinois Racing Board, and Jack G. Goode are the stewards. As Goode will be serving at Churchill Downs during the first week of the Lincoln meeting, J. J. Graddy will serve in his place during opening week. The other officials approved by the Board are: Placing judges, Raymond Hoertz, William Reagan and Robert P. McAuliffe, Patrol judges, Thomas A. Steele, Jack Klu-cina, George Molesworth and Vasco Parke. Paddock judge, James T. Clark; clerk of scales, Charles J. Gormley, Jr.; assistant clerk of scales, Floyd Alsbury; racing secretary, Lawrence C. Bogenschutz; starter, Reuben White; timer, William Cunningham; director of mutuels, E. A. Weide-kamp. Because of the absence of Hoertz, Moles-worth and Gormley during the open week, Parke will act as placing judge, Frederic Grafton and George Swain as patrol judges and Alsbury as clerk of scales during that period. Before leaving for Louisville, Ky., to witness the diamond jubilee running of the Kentucky Derby, Peter J. ODonnell, general manager of Lincoln Fields, explained that the selection of Dahlstrom and other officials was made personally by Edward J. Fleming before his death early in April.
