Gee Whiz Drives to Nose Triumph at Suffolk Downs SUFFOLK DOWNS, East Boston, Mass., May 6. — Murlogg Farms Gee Whiz handled his light impost of 108 pounds very smartly today and drove to a nose decision over Mt. Desert Stables Tim B. in the featured Excelsior Purse at Suffolk Downs. A half length back of the leaders, F. M. Poncelets Charing Rock held on to earn the minor away over Myharriet Stables Marine Band, favorite in the field of 10 that contested the Excelsior. A sudden change in "mild weather that has prevailed during the past week brought topcoats back into prominence. Overhead clouds that gave indications of rain during the early part of the day broke gradually during the afternoon and the sun peeped through as the field went postward in the feature. The attendance held up fairly well despite the chilly air, 11,805 checking through the turnstiles. The racing strip was termed fast for the afternoons sport, but was regarded by many horsemen as very deep. Gee Whiz time for the six furlongs was 1:13. The Johnstown colt paid .60 for his initial triumph of the current year and picked up ,100 for his share of the ,500 purse.
