GAY BAND was under intermittent urging to maintain command on the rail and drew away in the closing furlong under hard punishment. JOIS forced the pace from the start, challenged gamely on the third turn, but faltered. FREE CITIZEN tired before five furlongs, but lasted best of the others. OLOS STAR was off poorly. EL CABRILLO was through early. MISS G. G. and GYPSY ACTRESS broke tardily. BURGOO MASTER went into a clear lead when hard put on the backstretch and weakened near the end. WILFUL MAID had no excuse. MOONS END lost ground while with the first flight and tired. QUIZZLE gained command on the inside when the leaders went wide, established a long lead after three furlongs and finished under strong hand urging. PETRIFIED was gothered on the first turn, moved up gamely, but was no match for the winner. WAYNE S. tired. SUN SYMBOL was carries extremely wide en the first turn and came out of the race slightly lame. BOBALEE ran out on the first turn while holding a slight lead and was nearly pulled up before being straightened. PATRUSKA quit. SUNSTORM, allowed to settle into stride, went up with a rush between horses on the third turn, disposed of ROYALONG and drew clear. The latter forged between horses to gain command, came in when clear on the third turn, but was not gcod enough. SANGONE ran out on the first turn, then was blocked and hemmed in in the backstretch the second time and on the third turn. STRAETH had no excuse. NEWSWORTHY gave way in the final quarter. FRISK forced the pace under restraint, went into the lead when ready and won easily. DIVE BOMBER, unhurried in the opening stages, moved up on the outside and outfinished OSWEGO DR. for the place. The latter bore out and nearly went down on the first turn when he struck the heels of a horse. WISE TIGER stumbled badly at the start, was taken up going into the first turn when blocked, then tired. STAR GRADUATE was through early. GENIES MATE was used up making the early pace.
