Dufferin Park Raises Curtain On Racing Season in Canada DUFFERIN PARK, Toronto, Ont., May 6. — Dufferin Park, Canadas most successful half-mile race course, raises the curtain on the Dominions 1949 season of turf sport here tomorrow. It will be an unique opening, principally on the score that it breaks the tradition of the Ontario Jockey Clubs time-honored inaugural at Woodbine Park and, again, that it marks the earliest Canadian opening on the longest season in this modern era of racing. With an over-abundance of racing material available hereabouts for the daily programs, races throughout the 12 days session will *be well filled and, of course, keenly competitive. The Inagural Handicap, a run of about five furlongs for a purse of ,800, holds the feature spot on the initial card. A full quota of 12 are listed in the entries, and a number more were excluded. Eight will start, and the dash shapes up as a thriller.
