Arcaros Mistake of 1942 Eddie Arcaro, who has ridden four Derby winners, admits he made a big mistake when he chose to ride Devil Diver in the 1942 Derby. Arcaro had his pick between Devil Diver and his Greentree stablemate, Shut Out. The latter won, Devil Diver finishing sixth.
