SHY GUY raced nearest ARMED until reaching the upper turn, went to the front when roused, then continued gamely under brisk handling and held FREE AMERICA safe. The latter, taken back and sent to the inside before going a quarter, moved up on the outside of SHY GUY for the drive and, closing strongly, was unable to overtake the winner. ARMED went into command at once, made the pace for five-eighths, then faltered when challenged by SHY GUY. DINNER HOUR could not keep up after showing brief speed. UNCLE MAC disposed of DELIVER after a quarter mile, gave way to BIG HEAD nearing the eighth post and, though no match for the winner, held on to best the others. TRIER closed a gap when set down for the final test. FAIR ARAB weakened during the late stages. DELIVER could not keep up. DUFFLE failed to stay. STEFAN was never prominent. POLLY W. WAS FRACTIOUS AT THE POST AND, AFTER BEING CAST IN THE GATE, WAS ORDERED SCRATCHED BY THE STEWARDS. ALL WAGERS ON POLLY W. WERE ORDERED REFUNDED. Scratched— 53006 Polly W., 106.
