Citation, Coaltown Each Assigned 132 Calumet Stars Ranked First In Maluvius Weights for Gold Cup at Hollywood SANTA ANITA PARK, Arcadia, Calif., May 10.— Equally weighted at 132 pounds, Calumets famous pair of Citation and Coaltown have drawn the top imposts for the 00,000 guaranteed - to - the - winner Hollywood Gold Cup to be staged by the Hollywood Turf Club at Santa Anita, July 16, it was announced today by racing secretary John R. Maluvius. In announcing the weights for the mile and a quarter Gold Cup, Maluvius adhered to the Hollywood Park policy of weighting all eligibles for handicaps within a 20-pound spread between top and bottom horses, age and sex allowances considered. In being weighted at 132 pounds to lead the record 87 nominees for the Hollywood Gold Cup, Citation and Coaltown have drawn greater weight than either has ever carried in his racing career. Third top at 123 pounds was Fervent, another Calumet hope. Phalanx, C. V. Whitneys three-year-old champion of 1947 and a solid cup horse, was handicapped at 121. Horses and weights follow: Horse. Wt.
