NOBLE IMPULSE opened a commanding lead early, was taken under restraint while setting the fast pace and was never threatened. BLUE HILLS was taken in hand after the first half mile, saved ground entering the stretch and closed well under pressure. HEDGEWOOD moved through along the rail to challenge the leader and tired in the late stages. DOUBLE BRANDY, within striking distance early, lacked a closing drive. SWAP OUT was bothered slightly by TARAN going into the first turn and could not make up any ground. The latter was not ready at the break when he dwelt and never reached contention. Overweight— Taran, 2 pounds.
