BALLIOL improved his position gradually while saving ground, challenged for the lead from the outside and wore down MARKABILITY. The latter was nicely rated while setting the pace, held on extremely well and came back a bit lame. HARMONY HOPE raced prominently, but lacked a rally. B0NZIAH SENIAH caught tired horses when able to move through along the inside. MISS PIDGE0N faltered after racing forwardly. ALBATROSS tired. GLACIAL RUN was prominent briefly. HOBIE B. moved into contention on the turn, was hard ridden while on the outside throughout the stretch and wore down the early leaders in the final strides. MILITANT LADY held a clear lead rounding the turn and held on tenaciously. DASH FOR CASH pressed the pace and responded well, but was not good enough. MARY showed speed throughout and weakened. ALLIER was allowed to follow the pace, fenced well, saved ground while rallying, displaced the leader from the outside immediately after the final fence and drew clear to win cleverly. RANK held a clear lead while setting the pace, turned back the challenge of MY GOOD MAN, but could not hold the winner. OAK LEAF raced evenly while forwardly placed throughout. MY GOOD MAN, very rank while being taken back early, fenced poorly after moving to the leader and bobbled badly at the twelfth and fifteenth jumps. HIS BOOTS was not a serious threat. THIN DIME disposed of serious opposition on the turn and drew clear to win easily. WINGY drove through along the inside to loom a threat, then was unable to stay with the Jop one through the stretch. SATIN BLUE improved her position on the outside and was best of the others. QUICK PARTY showed good speed and faltered. LAST CURTAIN lacked a menacing rally. PEGGY LEWIS was shuffled back leaving the backstretch. COMPOSER broke tardily and was never a factor. CHEVY BONES tired when unable to assume command. ROUNDELAY lost stirrups when almost knocked down leaving the backstretch. DUFF was through early. HY moved to MISS WHIPPET after a 7£ half mile, drew clear after shaking off that one and had speed in reserve at the end. MISS WHIPPET set the - pace while under steadying restraint, was no match for the winner, but held on gamely to outfinish UNDER- CURRENT. The latter rallied only mildly under pressure. MERRY RISK raced on the outside from the start !*; and failed to respond. FIBSTER raced forwardly and between horses, then tired. LARAN was not hurried when outrun along the backstretch, took the overland course while improving his position, drifted in slightly while drawing clear and won with speed to spare. MARK UP, hard hustled to attain the early advantage, was well rated in front and appeared to stumble while tiring. SNOWFLARES showed speed along the inside from the start and was in close quarters briefly in midstretch. CARRARA MARBLE, taken back soon after the start, rallied from outside to loom a threat, then tired. NATHANIEL raced between horses much of the distance and weakened. BINKY B. dropped out of it early. PANGO PANGO pressed the pace while hard held but flattened out when placed to pressure. ZORIEL raced wide while rallying and could not menace the top pair. HARD RENO broke in a tangle, reached contention in the early stretch and faltered. HEAD SMART tired in the final drive. HUNTER F. raced forwardly and tired. MELS CHIC could not handle the going.
