River Downs Will Be Opened For Influx of Horses May 23 RANDALL PARK, North Randall, Ohio, May 16. — Racing secretary Luther H. Van-Zandt returned this morning from a weekend trip to Cincinnati, where he conferred with Peter A. Horback, president of the River Downs Jockey Club, which organization will inaugurate a 43-day meeting on June 1. VanZandt, who will serve as racing secretary and handicapper at River Downs, announced that preparations are progressing swiftly, and that everything is even now in readiness for the influx of horses that will begin next Monday, May 23. Ac- cording to track superintendent Thurman Pangburn, the stabling area will be opened on that date, and the racing strip will be available for training.
