SHY GUY was bumped on the first turn when CHILDERIC was sent up on the inside, was taken in hand while racing within striking distance of the leaders to the upper turn and, after taking command in the stretch, retained the advantage under a steady hand ride. MISS MOMMY, a keen factor from the start, was much used racing LOVE SONNET into dSTeat, was in close quarters during the drive, but finished resolutely in a sharp effort. LOVE SONNET went to the front after going a half mile and held on well to the final furlong, then faltered. CHILDERIC, under a bold ride, was sent up on the inside of SHY GUY after* the start, bumped the latter and failed to stay after displaying brief speed. SIR SPRITE made a mild bid approaching the stretch, then gave way. BLUE GRIP was never a serious factor. Scratched— 728092 Traveler, 108; 704584 Babs Damion, 104; 730152 Seven League, 111. MY EMPIRE, in hand and saving ground to the stretch, was sent to the middle of the track for the drive and, responding to vigorous urging, wore down SANTA CLAUS to win going away. SANTA CLAUS, a sharp factor from the beginning, went to the front when settled for the drive, but could not withstand the winner. EMPUJON could not reach the leaders when hard ridden through the stretch. DISDOMO assumed command at once and made the Dace to*the stretch while engaging SANTA CLAUS, then weakened.
