JOHNNY DIMICK improved his position steadily along the inside, came outside of the leader in the late stages to take command and was under pressure to hold THE WING safe. The latter, never far off the pace, closed stoutly when set down. MYSHIRLEY assumed command soon after the start, increased the lead with ease, then shortened stride and was tiring in the final yards. TIGHT GRIP rushed boldly after a quarter mile and challenged mildly, then weakened. LIGHTNING PLAY was unable to keep up JOE SPAGAT raced evenly. LITTLE RENNY had no mishap. AUNTIE, forwardly placed on the outside, rallied when sent up to the leader leaving the furlong pole, gained a slight advantage and continued on gamely. SURVEY slipped through on the inside to take command on the final turn, then faltered. CARTER GIRL, slow to hit stride, moved rapidly between horses and finished with good energy. ELLEHCOR, a factor while racing along the inside, flattened out under late pressure. VEILED THREAT was unable to keep up. CO-PENNANT set the pace for a half mile, then tired. KHAMS HOUR showed nothing. COTTON BUD stumbled leaving the gate and was never a serious factor. The others were outrun. BYRONIC, a forward factor on the outside, responded when straightened for the drive, closed determinedly and outfinished LITTLE CAPTAIN. The latter was steadied close to the pace while racing on the inside, slipped through on the final turn to draw even with the leaders, then continued on gamely under pressure. MANUELA closed well from off the pace. BEST PUNCH, fractious at the gate, broke alertly, set the pace under a hustling ride, then drifted out slightly after being straightened in the stretch. GERTIES LAST, in close quarters while forcing the pace, gained a slight advantage nearing the furlong pole, then was bothered slightly as the leaders bunched. CUNNING outran field to gain a com-k manding lead soon after the start, was under steadying restraint while saving ground, then continued on when roused to win as rider pleased. STEPLOCH broke alertly, then tried to wheel before reaching the main track, was roused leaving the backstretch and lost ground on the outside, but closed willingly under steady pressure. BONNIE GOLOS, slow to settle into best stride, came through on the inside, but was not good enough. GYPSY LEA had no mishap. MON TORCH was unable to reach serious contention. Won ridden out; second and third driving. VAR, taken in hand and steadied for six furlongs, moved rapidly when roused, passed the leaders nearing the furlong pole and increased the lead with each stride. BEST DOINGS was kept within striking distance of the pace, rallied mildly to challenge the leader entering the stretch, but was unable to match strides with, the winner. AMERICAN GLORY outrun his field to take a comfortable lead, was steadied while saving ground, then shortened stride when challenged and was tiring at the end. DIVOT DIGGER tired after six furlongs. DINNER PARTY, taken back off pace and steadied for six furlongs, moved with a rush on the outside, drew abreast nearing the final sixteenth then outfinished FRENCH LURE. The latter, in hand while forcing the pace, rallied when put to a drive and held on tenaciously. QUATREFOIL, quickest to begin, opened lead at once, was kept along the inside, responded when challenged on the far turn, holding on gamely, although tiring near the end. GOLDEN THORN, well up and in hand down on the inside, failed to respond when set down. UNCLE DOC had no mishap. ANALYSIS was unable to reach the pace. TED WES showed a dull effort. REBUKE, slow to hit stride, worked his way up on the outside to enter contention inside the final "quarter, closed determinedly to gain command and drew out in the final strides. MAXMAR closed in on the leader after six furlongs, assumed command,-but had nothing left to stave off the winners bid. LEAVETAKING saved ground when put to pressure and closed willingly. OLD UNION opened a commanding lead at once, set the pace for seven furlongs, then tired. TICK TACK had no mishap. RISKING ALL finished well along the inside. HARSAM showed nothing.
