Illinois Notes SPORTSMANS PARK, Cicero, 111., May 7. Larry Bogenschutz, racing secretary and handicapper of the Lincoln Fields meeting, was due to arrive at Washington Park Tuesday. The racing secretarys office was opened today by Jim Clark. The nine-year-old gelding, Private Joe, has changed stables, being purchased by E. Burton from Louis E. Johnson. Frank Carra, who will serve as patrol judge at the coming meeting at Ak-Sar-Ben Field, Omaha, was a visitor from his home in Chicago Heights. Earl Van Hook, a 22-year-old apprentice from Odell, 111., made his first appearance on a Chicago track when he rode Chinese Yen in the second race Monday. He is under contract to J. D. and W. M. and Mrs. Nellie Mikel. He has had but one previous mount, that at New Orleans, during the past winter. Ike Bassett, mid-western representative of the Jockeys Guild, was an arrival from Beulah Park, Ohio, where he journeyed to attend the opening of that meeting. Mrs. Alice Moore reports the arrival of a filly foal by The Dude out of Topsy Lass at the Pat K. Farm, Barrington, 111. Stake books for the Arlington Park meeting opening on June 18 are now available at the racing secretarys office. Outstanding features of the meeting are the Arlington Handicap, the Arlington Matron, and the Stars and Stripes Handicap for three-year-olds and upward, and the Arlington Classic for three-year-olds.
