NETCHERETTE was outrun and made up some ground in the stretch to take second place. KENAYR was never far away in an even effort. WAXON was racing fairly well at the end. OKLAHOMA TIME tired badly in the stretch. JEANIE DREW was always closest to the leader and likewise well in front of the others throughout. KATHLEEN R finished with good courage to best RED FRANCES in the final strides. COPPER CUP was unable to raise a respectable gallop. CHINESE YEN bore out badly on the backstretch. YALE was under restraint for half the distance, but responded readily when called upon and, although going to the middle of the track in the stretch, had little trouble overtaking PHANTOM HEELS and winning easily. PHANTOM HEELS was sent to the front soon after the start and drew out entering the backstretch, but was unable to cope with the winner ROYAL LUCK, while not good enough to threaten the first pair, ran a fair race. EMORY A. passed tring horses. JOHNS DATE quit badly. GINJO bore out beyond the middle of the track on the second turn. Scratched— 18C83 Balla Tim, 107; 27888 Day, 112. ROYAL CHALLA lacked speed, but saved all possible ground to slip through on the inside of ON THE RIVER under hard riding in the stretch and hold FLINT HEART at the finish. FLINT HEART was always close to the pace and continued gamely to the end. ON THE RIVER opened up a good lead after going half the trip, but faltered in the final run. RAY BROWN showed fair early speed. EQUISUN quit badly. CHIEF ANDERSON raced to the outside fence on the second turn. On the River claimed by S. Carpenter. FIFTH RACE 5-8 MILE out of chute. J. gained an advantage at the start and, racing in his best form, assumed a comfortable advantage on the backstretch, but was forced to do his best at the end to hold CROSS RING. The latter was the most formidable contender from the start and was gaining on the winner with every stride. WHIRL OFF was unable to contend for the early leadership, but was going fastest of all at the finish. WHITE BLAZE raced evenly. SNEAKY PETE bore out on the turns. DEEP WATER, a trailer in the early stages, was forced to take up on the second turn when SON CHARLIE stumbled and threw his rider, then came fast in the middle of the track through the stretch to catch AURORA DEB in the closing strides. AURORA DEB headed TEDSON after going a short distance to take a short lead over the latter and went well thereafter. THE PEER dropped back when in close quarters after going three-sixteenths, then made up ground in the stretch to finish well. NON FERRO weakened in the last sixteenth. TEDSON pulled up slightly lame. GRAND ISLE trailed in the early stages, but gained gradually after going the distance and, coming through on the inside of CALLED after entering the stretch, held the latter to the end in a drive CALLED got through a narrow opening between horses after leaving the backstretch to take command and went well to the finish. SO FAIR was forced to race rather wide for part of the trip. GARRETT C. was jostled soon after the start and failed to threaten, although finishing fairly well. KASLICK was badly outrun. PARK PIGEON was prominent for six furlongs, then weakened. The others tired. Park Pigeon claimed by Mr. and Mrs. G. B. Holman. Brave Lt. claimed by B. Fogelson. EIGHTH RACE 1 1-16 MILES. MESCARA was rated close up in the early running, and coming strongly in the stretch caught MUCH PLEASURE near the end. The latter got through an opening around the first turn to reach contention, then took over when HELENTPWN began to weaken, but was unable to resist the winner. COQUINET was badly outrun early but was going strongly at the end. SUPERWOLF made a strong move nearing the stretch turn and went fairly well thereafter. HAZELTOWN tired. Scratched— 27691 Icanc, 110.
