Barretts Auntie, homebred miss who was a prime favorite in New England last season, began her 1951 campaign in this sector with a driving score over J. Lobiancos Power Drunk in the featured Lynnfield Purse at Suffolk Downs today. The five-year-old Time Signal mare was a half length before the runner-up at the end of six furlongs, with Tamarack Stables Bated Breath another half length back in third position. Although threatening clouds prevailed during the afternoon, rain was not imminent as the day progressed. A light shower fell around noon but it had no effect on the fast racing strip. The 12,618 persons were treated to formful racing as four of the first six choices rewarded the chalk players. The other two choices finished second. Auntie was made odds-on and paid .40. her time for the six furlongs was 1:11%.
