Winning Trainer, Jockey Awards in Three Stakes Principals in Dwyer7 Brooklyn And Beldame Will Be Honored AQUEDUCT, L. I., N. YM June 12.— Aqueduct, which opens its 20-day summer meeting on June 22, is inaugurating the presentation of awards for the winning trainer and jockey of its three 0,000 stakes — the Dwyer, Brooklyn and Beldame Handicaps. The awards will start with this years running of the events and will be a permanent feature. Cyrus S. Jullien, president of the Queens Jockey Club, conceived the idea and is selecting the trophies personally. "We have always felt," said Jullien, "That the men responsible for the ultimate victory, the trainer and jockey, have been overlooked. An appropriate award, suitably engraved, commemorating the event will be a constant reminder of the race and will be highly prized by the winners." The announcement of the awards met instant approval by officials of the jockey and trainers associations. "The Jockey Guild is very grateful for Mr. Julliens fine gesture," -said Sterling Young, secretary of that organization. "I know the boys will be pleased to have something permanent to remember the event. I believe this is the first time that stakes of 0,000 value carry awards for jockeys and trainers." "Aqueduct should be complimented for taking the initiative in this -movement," remarked Sol Rutchick, vice-president of the Horsemens Benevolent and Protective Association. "The trophy will remind the trainers of the thrill of winning a big race. We appreciate Mr. Julliens fine offer." Jack Skinner, president of the American Trainers Association, also expressed pleasure in behalf of his group. "A trophy is always welcome to a horseman," he said, "and Mr. Jullien has clearly shown that he is aware of the sentimental significance of such an award. T know it will be highly treasured by the winners."
