First Night Handle Op SPORTSMANS PARK, Cicero, 111., June 12. — The 54-night harness meeting of the Chicago Downs Association got under way in auspicious fashion last night with a crowd of 6,120 witnessing the nine-race program. The opening nights mutuel handle was 53,984, which represented a gain of 1,536 over the corresponding night of the 1950 season, when 32,448 was wagered. Grattan Truax took down both ends of the first division of the Inaugural Pace, while John Lee and Bay Prince shared honors in the second division.
