Lions Get Martin, Ex-Irish End in Trade With Browns DETROIT, Mich., June 12 UP.-r-The Detroit Lions acquired former Notre Dame end Jim Martin from the National Football Champion Cleveland Browns in a seven-I player trade today, coach Buddy Parker announced. The Lions also gave up their No. 1 and No. 16 draft choices for next year to obtain Martin, quarterback Ed Pasky, halfbacks Tom Lucia and Lowell Tew and tackle Dave Rakestraw. In addition, Detroit sent linebacker Charles Schroll and guard Ed Wood to the Browns. Martin will join former Notre Dame teammate Leon Hart as an end on the Lion squad. He is expected to fill the gap created when defensive end Jim Cain was called up by the Army last fall. A Marine veteran, Martin is 26 years old, stands six feet, two inches and weighs 220 pounds. He played both end and guard for the Fighting Irish. Pasky played college ball at the University of South Carolina. He is 24 years oldi stands six feet, two inches and weighs 200 pounds. He has no professional football experience. Lucia is 23 years old, stands five-nine and weighs 200 pounds. He is 28, five-11 and weighs only 165 pounds.
