New Jersey Notes MONMOUTH PARK, Oceanport, N. J., June 21. For the protection of jockeys and horses racing over the infield turf, general manager Edward J. Brennan has placed rubber pylons in the center area to mark the turns. These will also be in place when hurdle racing returns to the northern New Jersey shore next July 16. Mr. and Mrs. Tilyou Christopher, who have a string of horses at the local course under trainer E. E. Russell, are expected shortly from their Florida home for a long stay in northern New Jersey. C. W. Per-shall, also one of Russells patrons, will come on from Illinois later in the meeting. Popular Screen star Robert Preston, will be at this seaside track on Friday for the running of a race named in his honor. He is to be accompanied by two other prominent figures of the entertainment world, songstress Peggy Lee and "The Velvet Fog," Mel Torme. Walter Note of New Orleans, whose stable is currently being campaigned over the New England tracks, is a visitor for a few days of local sport. He is the guest of trainer E. Melconcon, Jr. Jockey Larney Hansman has joined Monmouth Parks saddle colony. He is currently under a 10-day suspension meted out at Delaware Park, and will return to action when the time limit is up. Hugh Goff and Harry Goff, owners of Puckety Farm, arrived from Kentucky for a short Jersey vacation. Their horses are being trained locally by Jack Goldstine. Other members of the string will be transferred from New York shortly. Apprentice Warren Lane has joined the T. H. Heard, Jr., stable, arriving this morning from Delaware. The lad is rated a first class prospect, and he has the services of widely-known agent E. "Whitey" Dan-hauer.
