Jeffery Hanover Seeking Repeat Victories Tonight Won Both Features Saturday Night Under Welchs Excellent Handling SPORTSMANS PARK, Cicero, 111., June 21. — The ,500 overnight feature tomorrow night draws the six top trotters on the grounds as Sportsmans Park offers its second week-end of sport. Pee Wee Welch brings Jeffrey Hanover back to try for his third and fourth straight. Welch showed the near capacity crowd last Saturday night just how to rate a good race horse when he brought Jeffrey home in the stretch to win both features the same way. Welch is considered one of the top drivers when it comes to getting the most out of a horse in a tough situation. In both of his victories he allowed the front runners to go to the top, laid back about fifth most of the way and blazed home in the stretch. The fact that both photos went his way overcomes the possibility of luck, especially since he had to beat Harry Burright driving Jerry A. Hanover, who is pretty fair at rating horse flesh, himself. Jerry A. Hanover, who was the victim of -the Welch technique, will be back for another try in the feature, but he comes from the outside again. Lee Dewey, owned by Norman C. Towne of Libertyville, drew the pole in both heats for his first start at the Cicero half-miler. Lee Dewey has been an in-and-outer most of his career, but, comes through at surprising times. Last year he won the 0,000 Maywood Trotting Derby, which included all of the six horses going Friday night. Buck Minniear will be in the sulky for the Towne entrant. Gene Long, still looking for a Sportsmans victory, will be back, too. A consistent performer, hes about ready to come through, although he has been in the money in all of his local starts this year. Moses also is still looking for the winners circle although he has showed impressively in all of his starts. With a six-horse field and plenty of room on the track, the Prjr day feature could provide one of the fastest races of the meeting. U. N. O., the star six-year-old, who won his first three starts here, goes under new colors Friday. Earl J. Allen of Lebanon, Ind., will see how much his 5,000 will bring him when the star pacer makes his first start under the Allen regime. Court Lawful, Jerry Mason and Clems Abbe will be his toughest competition.
