Theatre Pass Triumphs In Suffolk Main Event Holds Two-Length Margin Over Marymigirl; Richards Riding Star By AVERY BROWN Staff Correspondent SUFFOLK DOWNS, East Boston. Mass.. June 21. — J. M. Grieves Theatre Pass bested seven rivals to win the mile and 70 yards sixth* race of a featureless program at Suffolk Downs today. The chestnut son of Amphitheatre — Hand Out. ridden by the veteran, Clair Peabody, sported a two- length advantage over J. H. Davidsons Marymigirl, with the Potato Chip Farms Sam H. taking the minor award, three-parts o fa length farther back and a length clear of the favored Proud Sir, from the barn of Mrs. L. Palladino. Apprentice Lyman Richards, who recently esreved a 10-day suspension for rough riding, was in top form as he stole the show from his fellow apprentices, Charles Burr and Ralph Borgemenke, by piloting a triple through the first five races. Richards be-r gan his successes in the second race astride Tick Tock Stables Good Sweep to complete a Daily Double which, coupled with Chubby Boss, the first winner, paid 53.20. Fosters Pride in the fourth race and Questagain in the fifth were the other winners ridden by the youngster. Another humid afternoon prevailed at the seaside course and 8,286 fans were on hand for the sport. Only once did the fa-t vorite players have a chance to rejoice. Our Bully, ridden by Joe Spinale, annexed the third race in the role of favorite. In the sixth event, Sailing High made the pace to the half-way marker when Marymigirl, who had been in closest at- tendance, moved to the van. Theatre Pass was biding his time along in third position and as the new leader took over, Peabody called on the sophomore gelding. In a few strides the Grieve representative moved around the Whirlaway filly and quickly opened his two-length lead, which was suf- fici£nt to gain him his initial triumph of the season. Overlooked in the wagering, Theatre Pass paid 9.80 and was timed in 1:44% over the fast racing strip.
